"The causes and cures of fisheries deletion are largely known. However, until more vigorous attention is given to the acute problems confronting the salmon, their future will remain in balance. The people of all the state, not commercial and sports fishermen alone, have the responsibility of deciding whether "Save the Salmon" shall remain a pretty slogan-- or become a full-fledged campaign for its agent, the Department of Fisheries, to carry out. The perpetuation of this outstanding natural resource today is a challenge to all who are concerned with the progressive growth of Washington State."
